The Viriditas Chapel of Perpetual Adoration: A Virtual Reality for Contemplation

The Viriditas Chapel of Perpetual Adoration is a virtual reality program developed by Tale of Tales for Windows. Inspired by the visions and music of Saint Hildegard von Bingen, this simulation takes place in the northern apsidal chapel of Cathedral-in-the-Clouds, an ongoing collection of digital dioramas. The program aims to provide a contemplative experience for the user.

The virtual reality experience is designed for the player to kneel down and pray, which triggers an audio-visual spectacle that expresses the beauty of creation and the love of God. The program is based on Hildegard's visions of the cosmos, where a geocentric universe is embraced by the love of God and animated by the winds of faith and trust. The central altar piece represents the earth, while the sphere of fire and water is embodied in the two outer and inner columns, respectively. The program also features Hildegard's music and poetry, including "O viridissima virga ave" as sung by Stevie Wishart's ensemble Sinfonye.
